About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Foundation Phase Learning Support Teacher to join their dedicated team in Sandton . This role focuses on providing targeted academic assistance and individualized support to young learners in their foundational years, addressing a range of learning needs. You will work closely with classroom teachers, parents, and external specialists to identify learning gaps, develop tailored intervention strategies, and implement them within a supportive classroom or small group setting.

The aim is to ensure every child in the Foundation Phase receives the necessary support to build a strong academic foundation and develop confidence in their learning journey within an inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and assess learning difficulties or delays in Foundation Phase learners.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning support plans and intervention strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to integrate support strategies into daily lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust support plans as needed, maintaining detailed records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and strategies for support at home.
Requirements
  • A recognized teaching qualification, with a specialization or significant experience in Foundation Phase education.
  • Additional qualification or certification in Learning Support, Remedial Teaching, or Special Needs Education is highly advantageous.
  • Proven experience working with young children (Grades R-3) and addressing diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills related to learning challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to fostering student success.
