As a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer within Fluor’s Mining & Metals business line, you will drive engineering excellence, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high‑quality civil and structural design solutions that meet project, regulatory, and client requirements.

** The Lead Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of all civil and structural engineering activities within mining projects. The role ensures alignment with project objectives, industry best practices, regulatory frameworks, and Fluor’s execution standards while supporting seamless cross‑disciplinary integration and high‑quality project delivery.
** Key Responsibilities*
* ** Leadership & Technical Management** + Provide strategic direction and oversight for all civil and structural engineering activities across mining projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. + Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of civil and structural engineers and designers to deliver high‑quality designs, drawings, specifications, and technical solutions. + Ensure technical accuracy, integrity, constructability, and compliance of civil and structural engineering deliverables.

** Cross‑Functional Integration** + Direct and manage interfaces between Civil & Structural Engineering and key project disciplines, including Process Engineering, Mechanical, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement & Contracts, Construction, and client representatives. + Facilitate effective communication, coordination, and timely resolution of cross‑disciplinary issues to support integrated project execution.
** Cost‑Competitive Execution** + Champion the use of Cost Competitive Execution (CCE) techniques to optimise civil and structural engineering processes and deliver cost‑efficient solutions. + Drive value‑engineering initiatives to support efficiency, constructability, operability, and lifecycle performance of civil and structural systems. + Promote innovative and sustainable design methodologies aligned with project and client objectives.
** Project Delivery, Compliance & Quality Assurance** + Monitor performance against baseline budgets for man‑hours, materials, and deliverables. + Implement effective change‑management practices and provide timely reporting on variances and progress. + Maintain proactive communication with Engineering Department Managers related to design challenges, risks, and resource allocation. + Ensure all civil and structural deliverables meet project specifications, internal quality standards, and relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
