As a Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer within Fluor’s Mining & Metals business line, you will drive engineering excellence, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality electrical, controls, and instrumentation systems that meet project, regulatory, and client requirements.

* ** Purpose of the Role
** The Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all electrical and instrumentation engineering activities within mining projects. The role ensures alignment with project objectives, industry best practices, regulatory frameworks, and Fluor’s execution standards, enabling seamless cross‑disciplinary integration and predictable, high‑quality project delivery.
** Key Responsibilities*
* ** Leadership & Technical Management** + Provide strategic direction and oversight for electrical, instrumentation, and control system engineering activities across mining projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, standards, and regulatory requirements. + Lead and coordinate a team of E&I engineers and designers to deliver high‑quality deliverables, including electrical distribution designs, instrumentation specifications, control system architectures, and equipment layouts. + Ensure technical integrity, constructability, maintainability, and safety compliance of all E&I design packages.

** Cross‑Functional Integration** + Manage interfaces between Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering and key project disciplines, including Process Engineering, Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement & Contracts, Construction, and client teams. + Facilitate effective communication, coordination, and the timely resolution of cross‑disciplinary issues to ensure integrated project execution.
** Cost‑Competitive Execution** + Champion Cost Competitive Execution (CCE) techniques to optimise electrical and instrumentation engineering processes and ensure cost‑effective project outcomes. + Drive value‑engineering efforts to support efficiency, constructability, operability, reliability, and lifecycle value of electrical and control systems. + Promote innovative and sustainable design strategies, including energy‑efficient solutions and smart instrumentation.
** Project Delivery, Compliance & Quality Assurance** + Monitor electrical and instrumentation design performance against baseline man‑hour and material budgets. + Implement robust change‑management practices and provide timely reporting on variances, risks, and progress. + Maintain proactive communication with Engineering Department Managers regarding technical challenges, resource requirements, and design compliance. + Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards, client expectations, and statutory/regulatory obligations, including electrical safety regulations, industry codes, and hazardous area requirements.
