Senior Civil Engineer

Role Overview

As Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead and coordinate civil engineering design activities across infrastructure and site development projects. The role combines hands‑on technical engineering with design leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, mentoring and involvement in project and commercial delivery.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to proposals and business development initiatives while developing towards broader technical and project leadership responsibilities.

• Lead civil engineering design packages from concept through detailed design and delivery.
• Design and coordinate infrastructure including bulk earthworks, water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and drainage systems.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex engineering design challenges.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate civil engineering requirements with multidisciplinary design teams.
• Apply relevant engineering standards, codes and industry best practice.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technical team members.
• Collaborate with project teams across different offices and regions.
• Support project planning, commercial requirements and successful project delivery.
• Contribute to tenders, proposals and other work-winning activities.
• Support BIM-enabled delivery and digital engineering initiatives.
• Use Civil 3D and related tools to improve design coordination and efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Approximately eight years or more of relevant consulting engineering design experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and demonstrated technical competence.
• Demonstrated civil infrastructure and site development design experience.
• Experience with bulk earthworks and civil services infrastructure.
• Experience in water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and drainage systems.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to resolve complex engineering problems.
• Good understanding of relevant civil engineering design codes and standards.
• Experience working within BIM-enabled design environments.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of engineering project delivery requirements.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed project teams.

• Flood risk assessments.
• Hydrology.
• Dam-related infrastructure.
• Data centre infrastructure projects.
