Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive product development initiatives within their R&D department in Sandton . This role is central to conceptualizing, designing, and bringing to market innovative mechanical products and systems. You will leverage your extensive experience to lead technical aspects of product development, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure product excellence.

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to mass production.
• Perform advanced engineering analysis, including FEA and CFD, to optimize performance, durability, and manufacturability.
• Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for components and assemblies.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers to create integrated solutions.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, troubleshooting issues and driving design improvements.
• Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor and innovation.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Expert proficiency in advanced CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Deep understanding of material science, thermodynamics, acoustics, and vibration analysis.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex technical projects.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
