About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Wind Energy Turbine Engineer to join their team in Sandton . This crucial role focuses on the design, development, performance optimization, and lifecycle management of wind turbines. You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of wind energy generation assets, contributing significantly to the company s renewable energy portfolio. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in mechanical design, aerodynamics, control systems, and structural analysis related to wind turbines.
You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including project development, operations, and maintenance, to drive innovation and excellence in wind energy technology.
- Lead the technical design and development of wind turbine components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance targets.
- Conduct detailed aerodynamic, structural, and mechanical analyses to optimize turbine performance and longevity.
- Develop and implement advanced control strategies to enhance turbine efficiency, power output, and grid compliance.
- Oversee the testing, commissioning, and validation of new turbine technologies and upgrades.
- Provide expert technical support for wind farm operations and maintenance teams, troubleshooting complex issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain partners to ensure the quality and timely delivery of turbine components.
- Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a focus on rotating machinery.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design, engineering, and technical management of wind turbines .
- Proven expertise in aerodynamics , structural dynamics, control systems, and gearbox technology.
- Proficiency with relevant simulation and design software (e.g., ANSYS, Solid Works, FAST.Farm, Bladed).
- Strong understanding of wind resource assessment, site conditions, and their impact on turbine design.
