About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to their growing portfolio of commercial projects in the Sandton area. This role requires a blend of technical design skills and on-site coordination capabilities, offering a hybrid work model. You will be responsible for the design of electrical building services, ensuring compliance with building codes and client specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage systems for commercial properties.

- Design and develop electrical systems for commercial buildings, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and fire detection.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and schedules using CAD software.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, verify design information, and provide construction support.
- Coordinate electrical designs with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, and mechanical, to ensure integrated solutions.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and respond to RFIs from contractors during the construction phase.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant national and local building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on commercial building projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with relevant electrical design software.
- Good understanding of lighting design principles and energy-efficient solutions.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards (e.g., SANS 10142).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in both office and on-site environments.
