About the Role
Our client in Sandton is seeking a skilled Irrigation Systems Specialist to design, install, and maintain efficient irrigation systems for agricultural clients. This role is crucial for optimizing water usage and ensuring effective crop hydration, contributing significantly to farm productivity and sustainability. You will work closely with farmers to assess their needs, recommend appropriate irrigation solutions, and oversee the implementation and upkeep of these systems.
This position requires technical expertise and a practical understanding of water management in agriculture, serving clients primarily in the Gauteng region.
- Design and plan irrigation systems tailored to specific crop needs, soil types, and environmental conditions.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of various irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and center pivot.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Educate clients on best practices for water management and system operation to conserve water and energy.
- Stay updated on new irrigation technologies and water-saving techniques in the agricultural sector.
- Diploma or degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in designing, installing, and maintaining agricultural irrigation systems.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, water flow, and soil-water-plant relationships.
- Familiarity with different types of irrigation equipment and controllers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage projects and work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
