About the Role

Our client, a renowned specialist consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead their technical team in Sandton. This role is critical for providing advanced geotechnical solutions for both large-scale mining operations and complex civil infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for spearheading investigations, undertaking complex analyses, and delivering expert advice on ground stability, foundation design, and slope engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex geotechnical investigations for major mining and civil engineering projects.
Perform advanced geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, and seismic analyses.
Develop detailed foundation designs for heavy industrial structures, dams, and high-rise buildings.
Provide expert advice on ground improvement techniques, tunnelling, and underground excavations.
Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
Mentor and guide a team of junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices in Sandton.

Requirements

Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong background in both mining and civil applications.
Professional registration as a Pr. Eng with ECSA.
Expertise in advanced geotechnical software such as Plaxis 3D, Geo Studio Suite, or similar.
In-depth knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological processes.
Proven experience in managing large, complex projects and leading technical teams.
