Senior Mine Planning Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Sandton . This critical role involves developing and optimizing long-term and short-term mine plans to ensure efficient and safe extraction of resources. You will work with geologists, metallurgists, and operations teams to translate geological models into viable production schedules, considering economic, technical, and environmental factors.

The successful candidate will leverage advanced mine planning software and possess strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities to drive optimal resource development and maximize mine profitability.

• Develop comprehensive long-term and short-term mine plans, including production scheduling, stope design, and resource utilization.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Mine Sight) for 3D modeling and optimization.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and mine expansions.
• Collaborate closely with geology, geotechnical, and operations departments to ensure alignment of plans.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions within mining operations.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine planning and design, with a focus on open-pit or underground operations.
• Extensive experience with leading mine planning software packages.
• Strong understanding of geological modeling, resource estimation, and mine economics.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
