Lead Structural Engineer

Our client, a premier construction and engineering firm, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Structural Engineer for their office in Sandton, Gauteng. This senior position demands expertise in structural design, analysis, and project leadership for a variety of challenging construction projects. You will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, ensuring the technical integrity of designs, and collaborating closely with clients and project stakeholders.

• Lead the structural design process for a wide range of construction projects, ensuring innovative and compliant solutions.
• Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using state-of-the-art software.
• Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, project managers, and other discipline engineers to achieve integrated project goals.
• Review and approve structural drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations in Sandton and Gauteng.
• Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders to present design proposals and address technical queries.
• Oversee the structural aspects of construction phases, providing technical support and problem-solving.
• Contribute to business development efforts, including tender preparation and proposal writing.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in structural engineering.

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering design and project management, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
• Professional registration with ECSA (or eligibility) is essential.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP
  2000, SAFE) and CAD/BIM platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry design codes (SANS, Eurocodes).
• Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects from conception through to completion.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.
• Experience in the Gauteng construction market is highly desirable.
