Role Purpose
To assist the Fund Manager to manage the relationship between medical schemes and clients in order to achieve efficient customer service.
Requirements- Bachelor degree in Finance/Business Administration/Accounting/Economics or an equivalent relevant qualification (Essential)
- Matric (grade 12) Certificate (Essential)
- Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) accreditation with Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) (Desirable)
- 5 - 8 years experience in customer service, scheme administration, financial analysis, fund management, compliance, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience with Bonitas Medical Aid is advantageous
- Database management systems similar to Oracle
- Understanding of health insurance products and administration processes
- Medical Aid industry regulations and corporate governance principles
- General knowledge of claims management process, ex-gratia payment process, and Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB)
- Liaise with various internal functions to ensure they meet the SLA (service level agreements) with regards to scheme requirements.
- Handle unresolved queries/disputes related to scheme benefits, rules, and ensure timely follow-up and feedback on escalated queries and complaints.
- Keep scheme’s intranet and website updated, attend to critical issues in the manager's absence and compile various reports as requested.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure all fund-related activities adhere to regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
- Analyse market trends, economic indicators, and financial statements to provide informed investment recommendations to clients.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the fund's assets.
- Evaluate fund performance, prepare performance reports, and recommend adjustments to the investment strategy as needed.
- Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and legal advisors as necessary to ensure seamless fund operations and compliance.
- Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay updated on market trends and expand professional networks.
- Assist the Fund Manager with reviewing the Interpretation and communication of legislative changes and their potential impact(s) on the Scheme.
- Assist the Fund Manager with preparing board pack, collating reports, and implementation of board resolutions at administration level.
- Evaluate the accurate implementation and application of Scheme rules within administrative functions and IT platforms.
- Compile presentation of exception and special requests for Scheme consideration through collaboration with other department.
- Develop and sustain relationships with third‑party providers, representing the company in internal or external meetings upon manager's request.
- Conduct client meetings to understand their financial goals and risk tolerance, tailoring investment strategies to meet individual client needs.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, explaining investment strategies, market outlook, and performance reports in a clear and understandable manner.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop marketing materials and client communications showcasing the fund's performance and unique selling points.
- Effectively communicate scheme’s requirements to internal stakeholders, ensuring adherence to service level agreements and implementing corrective actions.
- Liaise with non‑compliant functions and present data to Scheme/trustees to foster a clear communication channels amongst all stakeholders.
- Provide training and guidance to internal staff on fund‑related matters, ensuring a thorough understanding of the investment products and services offered.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members.
- Act as a mentor to junior staff members, providing guidance on investment analysis, client interactions, and industry best practices.
- Identify opportunities for cost‑effectiveness and operational efficiency, optimising resource utilisation.
- Manage financial and company resources responsibly to ensure compliance.
- Monitor fund expenses, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to prepare accurate financial statements and reports for regulatory compliance and investor communications.
- Conduct financial analysis, assess investment opportunities, and provide recommendations for optimising the fund's financial performance.
