About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic Mine Economist to join their corporate team serving operations near Sandton . This hybrid role focuses on the financial analysis, economic evaluation, and strategic planning of mining projects and operations. You will develop financial models, assess project viability, and provide critical insights to support investment decisions and optimize profitability. • Develop and maintain financial models for mining projects, including NPV, IRR, and payback period analyses.
• Conduct economic feasibility studies for new mine developments and expansions.
• Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and operational costs to forecast financial performance.
• Provide economic input for mine planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and investors.

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Mining Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in economic analysis, financial modeling, or corporate finance within the mining sector.
• Strong understanding of mining operations, project finance, and commodity markets.
• Proficiency in financial modeling software (e.g., Excel, @RISK) and analytical tools.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills.
