SQL Database and Reporting Analyst

Overview

• Our client is seeking to hire a SQL Database and Reporting Analyst to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our SQL database environment while driving data analysis to support informed decision-making.
• This hybrid role combines database administration with data analytics, requiring strong technical proficiency in SQL Server management, data modelling, and visualisation, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining data integrity and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders across the business.

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning, indexing, and optimisation strategies.
• Manage database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Implement and maintain database security policies, access control, and compliance measures.
• Collaborate with development teams to support database design, deployment, and integration.
• Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, standards, and procedures.

• Extract, transform, and analyse data from multiple sources to deliver accurate insights.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, reports, and dashboards to support business requirements.
• Conduct trend analysis and data interpretation to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities.
• Support stakeholders with ad hoc data requests, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems and processes.
• Use BI and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, SSIS, etc.) to create and present dashboards and reports.

• Partner with business units to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Present insights and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
• Provide technical support and training to users for accessing and interpreting reports.

• Advanced SQL and data analysis skills with attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

• Matric
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in SQL Server administration and data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and database optimisation.
• Experience with BI and data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, and SSIS.
• Knowledge of ETL processes, data modelling, and data governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with SSAS is advantageous.
• Previous experience in fintech, banking, or payments industry is desirable.
