SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg, GP. In this role, you will work with enterprise-grade database environments, support mission‑critical systems, and drive innovative migration, optimization, and modernization projects. This is a chance to shape the future of Postgres adoption in Africa while working on cutting‑edge solutions.

• Design, implement, and optimize database architecture, replication, high availability, and backup strategies.
• Manage, monitor, and maintain Postgre
  
  SQL database environments, both community and enterprise versions.
• Perform troubleshooting, tuning, and performance analysis across large‑scale Postgres environments.
• Lead Oracle‑to‑Postgres migration projects and provide guidance on cross‑platform compatibility.
• Collaborate with development, Dev Ops, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless DB integration.
• Implement security best practices, policies, and access control management.
• Provide L1‑L3 support to internal teams and external customers.
• Document procedures, create knowledge bases, and mentor junior DBAs.
• Participate in after‑hours support rotations when necessary.
• Assist in technical pre‑sales support and solution architecture during client engagements.

• Deep experience with Enterprise Postgre
  
  SQL platforms
• 5–8 years hands‑on DBA experience, with at least 3+ years focused on PostgreSQL
• Experience with Oracle Database is a strong advantage.
• Proven track record in performance tuning, replication (streaming/logical), backup & recovery.
• Strong Linux command‑line skills and scripting capabilities.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. _statements, Prometheus, pg Badger, etc.).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container‑based deployments is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
