Senior Systems Engineer - Banking & Financial Services

Overview

Our client within the banking sector is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide specialist technical expertise across enterprise infrastructure and systems platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and optimising critical production environments while ensuring platform stability, performance, resilience and security.

Working within a highly regulated banking environment, you will support business-critical systems through proactive monitoring, incident resolution, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems, improving operational efficiency and maintaining highly available enterprise environments.

• Install, configure and maintain enterprise operating systems and infrastructure platforms.
• Monitor production systems to ensure maximum availability, resilience and performance.
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Investigate system failures and perform detailed root cause analysis.
• Implement performance tuning across operating systems and enterprise applications.
• Support disaster recovery, backup and business continuity initiatives.
• Automate repetitive administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
• Maintain enterprise monitoring solutions and respond to production alerts.
• Support incident, problem and change management processes in accordance with ITIL standards.
• Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, Networks, Database, Middleware and Application Support teams.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance and operational risk requirements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support during planned maintenance windows and major incidents.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform stability and operational efficiency.

• 5–8 years' experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production environments.
• Experience with in Banking, Financial Services or other highly regulated industries.
• Exposure to Cloud technologies and hybrid infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
• Experience working within change-controlled production environments.
