System Analyst

Overview

Senior Systems Analyst A Investec Sandton is looking for a Senior Systems Analyst with a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable business and technology solutions. You will be part of a cross-functional delivery team responsible for the end-to-end change lifecycle, from concept and problem definition through to delivery and value realisation. As a Senior Systems Analyst you will be operating at the intersection of business and technology, responsible for translating business needs into robust system designs, integration models, and technical specifications.

The role spans the end-to-end systems analysis lifecycle, ensuring solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to business value outcomes. In addition to being strong in core systems analysis practices, we are looking for someone who proactively identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen delivery practices, and enhance Investec’s overall business and technology capabilities.

• Translate business needs into robust system designs, integration models, and technical specifications.
• Ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to business value outcomes throughout the end-to-end systems analysis lifecycle.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen delivery practices, and enhance Investec’s business and technology capabilities.
• Facilitate workshops and decision forums; align diverse stakeholders, manage ambiguity, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to support backlog refinement, development, and testing.
• Document data flows, data models, and integration patterns; perform root-cause analysis and model processes (e.g., BPMN, use cases, data definitions).
• Maintain traceability from business intent to implementation, including epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and sign-off artifacts.
• Adhere to governance, risk, and quality standards, embedding auditability and controls into requirements and operational processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; finance services exposure preferred.
• 5+ years of systems analysis experience delivering end-to-end technology-enabled change, preferably in financial services (discovery, technical requirements, delivery support).
• Strong capability in current/future state analysis, root-cause analysis, and modelling (e.g., BPMN, customer journeys, use cases, data definitions).
• Proven ability to elicit, document, and manage requirements as epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria with traceability from intent through testing.
• Facilitation of workshops and decision forums; effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with backlog and delivery tooling (Jira/Azure Dev Ops) and documentation practices (Confluence/SharePoint) including decision logs and RAID logs.
• Understanding of system design and analysis: workflows, data models, integrations, functional specs, APIs, and enterprise architecture alignment.
• Knowledge of data analysis using Excel and, where applicable, SQL to validate requirements and support decision-making.
• Understanding of delivery governance, risk and controls (auditability, access, approvals).

• Additional skills that can be helpful: domain experience in financial services, lending, investments, or banking operations.
• Technology literacy to enable collaboration with engineering and architecture teams.
• Change and operational readiness experience to support smooth adoption and sustainable outcomes.
