A law firm based in Sandton is seeking an IT Technician to join their team.
- We are looking for a highly capable, motivated and experienced IT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and support to the firm.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining computer and network systems of the Firm. The candidate should possess extensive experience in providing information technology support in a fast-paced environment and ensure that the IT systems of the firm run efficiently.
- Providing IT support and assistance to the Staff.
- Monitoring hardware, software issues and systems performance metrics.
- Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (computers, routers, printers etc).
- Advising on IT equipment upgrades.
- Keeping track of technological advancements and trends in IT support and ensuring system security.
- Providing orientation and guidance to the Staff on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
- Monitoring and upgrading (where necessary) computer hardware (HDD, SSD, Processors, mouses, keyboards etc.) to ensure full and proper functionality.
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications and give guidance on how to operate software and computer equipment.
- Daily operation of all IT Equipment in the workplace.
- Daily, weekly & monthly server backup.
- Managing telephone users, groups, extensions.
- Managing video-conferencing facilities.
- Ensuring security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
- Maintain a service desk ticketing system for documentation, logging, monitoring and reporting all incidents.
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc).
- Identify computer or network equipment shortages and, source best quotations and place orders.
- Management of CCTV Surveillance equipment.
- Comply with all data policies, standards, and processes.
- Maintain our cloud-based system with our group of developers, report issues to developers and testing of fixes. Communicating between users and developers.
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
- Act as initial point of contact for all computer and IT related concerns.
- Liaising with external service provider/s on IT related issues.
- Have an understanding of video conferencing facilities.
- Assist in conducting research and locating resources.
- Organize all library resources so they are easy to locate.
- Identify technology needs and make recommendations.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Related IT qualification.
- At least 3 years in Technical Support Environment - Preferably in a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, 365, SharePoint, office 365 admin, and desktop application.
- In depth knowledge of computer hardware, software and networks.
- Good Troubleshooting and Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of working well under pressure.
- Developed interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and self-disciplined.
- Positive attitude and desire to assist.
