Junior Network Engineer - Infrastructure

Accountable for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and in some cases, designing communication networks within an organisation or between organisations. Ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for their users and or customers.

This role will be the subject matter expert on XLink network infrastructure and will play a key role in transferring skills to the rest of the team.

Network Management (Firewalls, F5, Routers & Switches)

• Provide support to all ongoing solutions
• Assess and manage all network and security related scenarios
• Configure and manage Fortigate firewalls
• Configure and manage F5 loadballancer
• Configure and manage Cisco network equipment

Development & Implementation

• Testing and deployment of new proposed solutions
• Assessing current policies and streamlining processes
• Ensure the latest security practices are applied
• Install and configure network and server equipment
• Identify problematic areas and implement remedial solutions in time.
• Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
• Ensure network audit and documentation is continually up to date
• Ensure network deployment complies with current security standards
• Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
• Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
• Provide 3rd level assistance to all operations engineers
• Automation and maintenance of network device backups.
• Ensuring all network backups are maintained and up to date
• Ensure a reliable and accurate NMS is running to all required devices
• Ensure logging is enabled and actively logging on all network equipment
• Implement and maintain network device monitoring

Key Requirements

• Strong hands‑on experience with F5 BIG‑IP
• Forti Gate firewall expertise with NSE 4 certification or equivalent experience
• Cisco networking skills at CCNP level
• Experience with Juniper networking technologies
• Exposure to cloud‑based networking solutions, specifically AWS and Microsoft Azure

Qualifications

• IT related Degree / Diploma or Equivalent Experience
• CCNA/CCNP/JNCA/NSE equivalent in Forti Gate/Cisco/Juniper and vendor specific certification
• 5+ years experience in the relevant field
