About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their hybrid IT infrastructure in Sandton . This role requires a deep understanding of both cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and on-premises systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of servers, networks, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses strong troubleshooting skills, and is adept at managing complex IT systems in a business‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure services on platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Administer network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring network stability and security.
- Implement and manage virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot system issues, and resolve incidents in a timely manner.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with exposure to both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Proficiency in managing Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure ), including IaaS and PaaS services.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Bash) for automation is highly desirable.
