Our client in the prestigious financial hub of Sandton is seeking a dedicated Data Security Officer to oversee the protection of sensitive company and customer data. This role is paramount in ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and implementing robust measures to prevent data breaches and ensure data integrity. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing data security policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing security awareness programs.
This is a critical position for an experienced professional focused on safeguarding valuable information assets.
- Develop and implement comprehensive data security strategies and policies.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as POPIA and GDPR.
- Conduct regular data security risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Oversee data encryption, access controls, and data loss prevention (DLP) measures.
- Manage and respond to data breach incidents, coordinating investigation and notification processes.
- Conduct security awareness training programs for employees on data handling best practices.
- Monitor and audit data access and usage to detect and prevent unauthorized activities in Sandton .
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data security , privacy, or compliance roles.
- In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations.
- Experience with data security technologies and tools (e.g., DLP, encryption, IAM).
- Strong understanding of risk management and incident response principles.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CISM are advantageous.
