Lead UX​/UI Designer; E-commerce Platforms

Our client, a rapidly expanding e-commerce enterprise, is seeking a highly skilled Lead UX/UI Designer to spearhead the user experience and interface design initiatives for their digital platforms. Based in the bustling commercial hub of Sandton, Gauteng , this role is crucial in crafting intuitive, engaging, and conversion-optimized online shopping experiences for a global customer base. The ideal candidate will possess a proven expertise in user-centered design methodologies, a deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, and exceptional leadership abilities to guide a talented design team.

You will be responsible for defining design strategies, overseeing the creation of seamless user flows, and ensuring a visually appealing and highly functional interface across all devices. • Lead the UX/UI design process for all e-commerce platforms, from concept to implementation.
• Develop user personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and marketing teams to translate business requirements into exceptional user experiences.
• Define and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI component libraries to ensure consistency across all platforms.
• Mentor and manage a team of UX/UI designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth.
• Stay current with the latest UX/UI trends, technologies, and best practices in e-commerce and digital design.
• Champion user-centered design principles throughout the organization.
• Optimize user flows and interfaces to enhance conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
• Present design concepts and solutions effectively to stakeholders and senior management.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in UX/UI design, with a significant focus on e-commerce platforms.
• A strong portfolio showcasing successful UX/UI design projects, particularly for high-traffic websites and mobile applications.
• Expertise in user research methodologies, wire framing, prototyping, and usability testing.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision).
• Solid understanding of front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on design.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide designers.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with the South African e-commerce landscape and user behavior in Sandton, Gauteng is beneficial.
