WE’RE HIRING: SENIOR FILE TRANSFER ENGINEER - IBM STERLING FILE GATEWAY
We are looking for an experienced Senior File Transfer Engineer with deep expertise in IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG) to design, implement and support secure, reliable and scalable enterprise file-transfer solutions.
This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can take ownership of complex Managed File Transfer (MFT) environments, lead technical initiatives and ensure the security, availability and regulatory compliance of critical data exchanges.
Key responsibilities include:- Designing and architecting scalable IBM SFG solutions.
- Installing, configuring and optimising IBM SFG environments.
- Managing partner profiles, certificates and routing channels.
- Onboarding internal and external trading partners.
- Supporting protocols such as SFTP, AS2, FTP and HTTP/S.
- Designing routing templates, document flows and business processes.
- Monitoring transfers and resolving complex failures and incidents.
- Integrating SFG with enterprise applications, APIs and middleware.
- Automating operational processes using Shell, Python or similar scripting tools.
- Implementing encryption, authentication and access controls.
- Supporting compliance with POPIA, GDPR and internal security policies.
- Planning upgrades, patches and platform migrations.
- Conducting capacity planning and performance optimisation.
- Producing technical documentation, audit reports and troubleshooting guides
- Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders
- Strong hands-on expertise in IBM Sterling File Gateway.
- Solid managed file transfer and trading-partner onboarding experience.
- Strong understanding of networking, firewalls and security protocols.
- Experience with certificates, encryption and access management.
- Scripting and process-automation capability.
- Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.
