About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Chemist to lead their Formulation Development efforts in Sandton. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and optimizing pharmaceutical dosage forms to ensure efficacy, stability, and patient compliance. You will work in a state-of-the-art laboratory, applying your deep knowledge of pharmaceutics, drug delivery systems, and analytical chemistry. Key Responsibilities- Design and execute pre-formulation studies and develop robust formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables).
- Conduct stability studies and perform analytical testing to assess drug product quality and shelf-life.
- Investigate and troubleshoot formulation-related issues during development and scale-up.
- Collaborate closely with analytical development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs teams.
- Stay current with regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA , EMA) and industry best practices in formulation science.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Strong understanding of physical chemistry, materials science, and drug delivery principles.
- Proficiency in using analytical techniques for formulation characterization (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing, DSC).
- Excellent scientific rigor, problem-solving abilities, and project management skills.
