Our client is looking for a highly motivated Senior Pharmaceutical Development Scientist to join their innovative team in Sandton . This hybrid role is central to the formulation development of new pharmaceutical products, from early-stage research through to commercialization. You will leverage your expertise in pharmaceutics, solid-state chemistry, and formulation science to design and optimize drug delivery systems. This position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute significantly to the pipeline of future medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize stable and effective pharmaceutical formulations for various dosage forms.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
- Perform characterization of drug substances and excipients using analytical techniques.
- Scale-up laboratory formulations to pilot and commercial manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with analytical, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to ensure successful product development.
- Troubleshoot formulation challenges and provide scientific expertise throughout the development lifecycle.
- PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Strong knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipients, and formulation principles.
- Proficiency with analytical techniques used in pharmaceutical characterization (e.g., HPLC, DSC, XRD).
- Experience with technology transfer and scale-up activities.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for effective collaboration.
