Senior Immunologist - Cancer Research

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Immunologist to lead pivotal research in Cancer Immunology at their state-of-the-art facility in Sandton . This role is integral to understanding the complex interplay between the immune system and cancer, with a focus on developing novel immunotherapies. You will be responsible for designing and executing innovative research projects, analyzing immunological data, mentoring junior researchers, and contributing to high-impact publications and grant proposals.

• Design and perform experiments to investigate tumor-immune system interactions and mechanisms of immune evasion.
• Develop and validate assays for assessing immune cell function, cytokine production, and immune checkpoint pathways.
• Analyze complex immunological datasets using advanced statistical and computational methods.
• Identify and characterize novel targets for cancer immunotherapy.
• Collaborate with oncology, pathology, and computational biology teams to integrate immunological findings into broader research strategies.
• Mentor junior scientists, provide guidance on experimental design, and oversee laboratory operations.

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Oncology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in cancer immunology or a related discipline.
• Proven expertise in flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot, western blotting, and other immunological techniques.
• Experience with in vivo tumor models and preclinical immunotherapy studies.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with bioinformatics tools for analyzing immunological data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record and grant-writing experience.
