Senior Research Scientist - Environmental Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Research Scientist specializing in Environmental Chemistry to join their team in Sandton . You will lead research initiatives focused on understanding and mitigating environmental pollution, developing innovative analytical methods, and contributing to sustainable solutions. This role requires a deep scientific understanding and the ability to manage complex research projects from conception to completion, working within a dedicated environmental research department.

• Conduct advanced research on environmental contaminants, their fate, transport, and effects in various environmental matrices.
• Develop and implement sophisticated analytical methods for trace-level detection and quantification of environmental pollutants.
• Manage research projects, including budget oversight, personnel supervision, and timeline management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to address complex environmental challenges.
• Author high-impact scientific publications and present findings at national and international conferences.

• PhD in Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental research and analysis.
• Expertise in analytical techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS for environmental sample analysis.
• Proven experience in project management and leading research teams.
• Strong publication record and a history of successful grant applications are highly desirable.
