About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist with a specialization in Organic Chemistry to join their advanced R&D center in Sandton . This role is pivotal in driving the discovery and development of novel chemical entities for various applications. You will lead complex synthetic projects, mentor junior chemists, and contribute significantly to the company's innovative pipeline. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and purification techniques, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.

- Design and execute complex synthetic routes for novel organic molecules with specific properties.
- Optimize reaction conditions and develop scalable synthetic procedures.
- Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using advanced spectroscopic techniques (e.g., NMR, MS, IR) and chromatography.
- Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot synthetic challenges, and propose alternative strategies.
- Mentor and guide junior organic chemists, fostering their technical skills and scientific development.
- Contribute to intellectual property generation through patent filings and scientific publications.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of organic reactions and modern synthetic methodologies.
- Proficiency in advanced spectroscopic techniques for structural elucidation and compound characterization.
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and stereo chemistry.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
