Research Scientist - Organic Synthesis

Our client is looking for a talented Research Scientist with a strong background in Organic Synthesis to join their cutting-edge R&D facility in Sandton . This role is crucial for the design and synthesis of novel organic molecules that serve as building blocks for new materials, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. • Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes to complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of syntheses.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR) and other analytical methods.
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions to overcome them.
• Maintain meticulous records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
• Collaborate with other scientists to integrate synthesized compounds into research projects and product pipelines.

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven expertise in modern organic synthesis methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Proficiency in using analytical instrumentation for compound characterization.
• Strong understanding of stereo chemistry and asymmetric synthesis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a laboratory setting in Sandton .
