Senior Research Chemist - Organic Synthesis

Our client is looking for an innovative and highly skilled Senior Research Chemist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their advanced research and development team in Sandton . This role is central to the design and execution of complex synthetic routes for novel chemical entities. You will be instrumental in driving the discovery and development of new compounds, contributing significantly to the company's product pipeline.

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic pathways for novel organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced spectroscopic and analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, etc.).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions.
• Collaborate with other scientists to advance projects from discovery through to development.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports and presentations.

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field with a strong emphasis on synthetic organic chemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven expertise in a wide range of modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Experience with purification techniques and characterization of complex organic molecules.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
