Aircraft Systems Software Developer

Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Systems Software Developer to join their innovative team in Sandton. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing embedded software for critical aircraft systems. You will work on challenging projects that demand high reliability, safety, and performance. Collaborating with systems engineers and hardware designers, you will contribute to the development of next-generation avionics and control systems.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for avionics and aircraft control systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as C, C++, or Ada.
• Implement software according to safety-critical standards (e.g., DO-178C).
• Perform software integration and testing on various platforms.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and systems engineers to define software requirements and architecture.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to established software development processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Ada programming languages.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems.
• Understanding of safety-critical software development principles and standards (e.g., DO-178C).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development tools.
