Backend Developer, Full Stack Developer
Matriarch helps commercial and industrial property owners get more from their solar and utilities assets. We combine live data with hands-on asset management to identify faults, reduce losses and improve performance. Our aim is to make reliable, sustainable energy a sound investment for our clients, and we take accountability for the value we deliver.
We build the technology behind that work, including Peek, our proprietary monitoring platform, alongside other products and internal tools. Our developers work with the cross functional teams monitoring sites, investigating faults and supporting clients. From connecting different meters and devices to building dashboards, alerts and custom applications, you’ll help solve problems that have real world impact.
What you'll do:You’ll take features from the first conversation through to release. We’re looking for strong frontend skills and backend experience to work across an application, with room to develop further in either direction.
- Build interfaces, dashboards and charts that help users understand their data and decide what to do next
- Develop APIs, integrations and database queries across our platforms
- Turn manual processes into tools our operations team and clients can use
- Work with meters and device level data, translating it to information the business can understand
- Help develop useful AI features for areas such as reporting, analysis and workflows
- Test your work, review code and resolve issues in production
The essentials
- More than 4 years of professional development experience, including shipping and maintaining production applications
- Backend knowledge covering APIs, business logic, authentication and integrations
- SQL and relational database experience, or comparable database skills and a willingness to learn
- Good engineering habits:
Git, code reviews, testing and debugging across the stack - Ownership and clear communication. You can work through a problem, ask questions and see a feature through to release
- C# / .NET is preferred, not required. We welcome developers from other backend stacks who want to learn
- AI:
Experience using AI development tools, integrating AI APIs or building AI-assisted features. - Design and UX:
An eye for layout, accessibility and straightforward user journeys. - Grafana:
Dashboards, time-series visualisation and alerting. - Kafka or similar:
Event streaming, messaging and asynchronous processing. - IoT and firmware:
Connected devices, telemetry, metering, embedded systems or device integrations. - Cloud and delivery:
Deployment pipelines, application monitoring and cloud platforms. - Energy knowledge:
Solar, batteries, utilities or energy management. - Fresh Perspective:
Keen to tackle problems head on.
You don’t need the whole list. We’re interested in how you build software, how you approach unfamiliar problems and what you’d like to learn.
It’s an interesting industry, with opportunity to work with the greater group (Fedgroup). You’ll work across several products and see how people use what you build. A feature might help an operator investigate a solar fault, give a client a clearer view of costs on their utilities or save the internal team hours of triage with automation. If that kind of work interests you, we’d like to meet you.
