Medical Call Center Representative at Family Health Services, LLC

Pay Range

Base: $16.00/hr – $19.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience)

Family Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides quality, affordable primary care, dental, and behavioral health services. Our “high touch, high tech” clinics offer unique patient‑focused care to anyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay. We are rapidly growing in Sandusky, Ohio at two locations, as well as in Norwalk, Ohio and surrounding areas.

We also offer behavioral health and primary care at several local schools in hopes of eliminating barriers to those needing services.

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Medical Call Center Representative to join our team! The ideal candidate will support clinic operations by answering incoming calls, representing the office with professionalism and compassion, and managing patient requests. This role requires independent work, multitasking, prioritization, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Receive all calls and address patient needs.
  • Direct questions to appropriate personnel according to policy.
  • Document phone calls and conversations in records as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to ensure smooth clinic operation.
  • Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and clinic space utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments according to policy.
  • Fax, scan, file, and mail documentation as necessary.
  • Collect and post patient payments using office software, and provide receipts.
  • Provide a positive patient experience by anticipating needs, answering questions, and maintaining a clean & presentable front office and reception area.
  • Assist in maintaining office equipment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Respond to crisis situations according to policy.
  • Maintain knowledge of clerical, personnel, medical policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy, Security & Compliance Programs, including HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, and other state/federal laws, and report any unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts to the appropriate authorities.
  • Familiarity with FHS office operations and flexibility to work varying hours.
  • Work independently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment

This job operates in a health‑care office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Must be able to travel independently throughout the facility to access information from other departments, sit for long periods, and meet specific vision requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Required

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma with knowledge of computers and data entry.
  • At least one year of experience in a health‑care setting.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant with 3–5 years of experience in a clinic setting.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to work as a team member and with a culturally diverse group of people.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the position.
