OverviewDietary Server responsibilities include supporting patient meal service, coordinating with nursing and dietitians, and ensuring safe food handling and delivery. This role is full-time with varying hours.
What You Will Do- Check NPO status with Nursing, review admissions and diet changes, conduct introduction rounds, collect and complete patient menus prior to each meal, enter meal orders, and deliver trays from holding cart in a timely, scripted manner.
- Read menus to patients as needed and communicate with nursing and dietitians about special patient needs or concerns.
- Organize and clean patient refrigerators; discard outdated items and non-patient food; report pertinent information to the Diet Office Operators.
- Collect dirty trays, check units for soiled carts, return carts to the dishroom, document intake of fluids, carbohydrates, and calories, and break down dirty trays for washing.
- Assemble and deliver floor stock orders for the assigned unit.
- Deliver meals in a timely fashion; monitor and report delays; ensure all trays are covered prior to delivery; carefully pour hot beverages as trays are delivered.
- Clean unit kitchens, including refrigerators/freezers and microwaves; ensure items are properly wrapped, labeled, and dated.
- Practice frequent hand washing after handling soiled or contaminated items; follow isolation precautions and use appropriate protective equipment.
- Coordinate menus with patients’ families when they cannot participate in room service.
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers; ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic; lift up to 30 pounds and be mobile.
- punctual attendance at assigned work location; ability to work safely and maintain an accident-free workplace; knowledge of emergency codes.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations, CDC standards, transmission-based precautions, and to utilize proper PPE; comply with applicable SDS forms.
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
