• Restock medications in automated dispensing machines at inpatient hospice facilities.
• Receive and document medication restock packages upon arrival at the facility.
• Verify medication expiration dates and remove expired products following safety protocols.
• Complete required sign‑offs for all restocked medications before leaving the site.
• Prepare and ship expired medications back to the pharmacy.
• Select, count, and verify medications using established procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and compliant dispensing machine and report binder.
• Assist with general inventory counts and inventory control processes.
• Partner with pharmacy and hospice teams to resolve restocking or inventory needs.
• Adhere to HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.

• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of pharmacy or medical terminology, abbreviations, and symbols.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to use web‑based tools and basic software systems.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Experience with automated dispensing machines preferred.
• Hospice or palliative care experience preferred.

This position requires state‑specific Pharmacy Technician licensure or certification where applicable. Requirements vary by state. Applicants must hold all credentials mandated by their state of employment or obtain them within the state‑required timeframe.

IPU Technicians ensure hospice inpatient units always have the medications required for comfort, symptom control, and high‑quality patient care. Their accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail directly affect patient safety and the smooth operation of pharmacy and hospice teams. By keeping dispensing machines fully stocked, organized, and compliant, they help deliver uninterrupted, dignified care to patients and meaningful support to clinical staff.
