. Family Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides quality, affordable primary care, dental, and behavioral health services across multiple locations in Sandusky, Norwalk, and surrounding Ohio communities.
This position operates in a healthcare setting, requiring frequent walking throughout the clinic, and routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. It involves exposure to dust, cleaning agents, and animals. The work environment is professional, friendly, and customer‑focused.
Essential Functions- Welcomes patients and visitors in person, greeting them promptly.
- Receives phone calls and directs inquiries to appropriate personnel according to policy.
- Documents calls and conversations in the records as required.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external customers to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Schedules appointments efficiently, optimizing provider time and clinic space utilization.
- ifies insurance benefits and eligibility via web portals before appointments.
- Pre‑registers patients and reminds them of appointments by telephone the day prior.
- Registers and checks patients in for their appointments promptly.
- Maintains patient accounts by accurately entering demographics and insurance information into the electronic health records system.
- Scans documents into EMR, including patient photos, insurance cards, intake paperwork, and financial information related to the FHS Sliding Fee Scale.
- Fax, scan, file, and mail documentation as necessary.
- Collects and posts patient payments, providing receipts.
- Ensures kiosks are functional for patient check‑in.
- Assists patients with completing medical information forms and obtains signatures for consent per policy.
- Completes return‑to‑work/school slips in coordination with nurse or provider.
- Provides a positive patient experience by anticipating needs, answering questions, and maintaining a clean, presentable front office and reception area.
- High school diploma with knowledge of computers and data entry required.
- Certification, degree, or equivalent experience in EMR or related field preferred.
