Community Youth Mentoring is seeking an energetic, organized, and compassionate Mentoring Program Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our youth mentoring programs throughout Erie County.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working directly with children, teens, adult volunteers, families, schools, and community partners. The Mentoring Program Manager will lead our School Buddies Program and Traditional One-to-One Mentoring Program, helping create positive mentoring relationships that make a difference in the lives of local youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and personally facilitate School Buddies mentoring sessions at participating schools.
  • Recruit, screen, train, schedule, and support high school student mentors.
  • Manage youth enrollment, parental permissions, school communication, attendance, and program records.
  • Recruit, screen, train, and support adult volunteer mentors for Traditional One-to-One Mentoring.
  • Conduct youth and family enrollment interviews and coordinate required enrollment documentation.
  • Recommend appropriate mentor and youth matches based on interests, personalities, needs, and availability.
  • Coordinate match introductions and provide ongoing support to mentors, youth, and families.
  • Maintain regular contact with mentoring matches and document required follow-up.
  • Recruit mentors and youth through schools, community organizations, events, presentations, and outreach.
  • Plan mentoring activities, recognition opportunities, and special events for matched and waiting-list youth and families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential program records and track enrollment, attendance, matches, retention, waiting lists, and program outcomes.
  • Develop positive working relationships with schools, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Assist with community outreach, recruitment efforts, agency fundraisers, and other program-related activities.
  • During June, July, and August, dedicate increased time to Traditional One-to-One Mentoring, mentor and youth recruitment, reducing the youth waiting list, summer mentoring activities, preparation for the upcoming School Buddies year, and approved program development.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, psychology, nonprofit management, recreation, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with youth, schools, families, volunteers, mentoring programs, education, social services, recreation, or community-based programs preferred.
  • Relevant professional and life experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Experience coordinating programs, managing multiple schedules, or working independently is preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate electronic and confidential program records.
  • Dependable, personable, organized, comfortable taking initiative, and able to build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, schools, and community partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and school schedules while communicating regularly with the Executive Director.
Additional Employment Requirements
