Position Description
As an Applebee's® Assistant Manager, you will be engaged in all aspects of day-to-day restaurant operations. You are responsible for ensuring guests and staff have a positive experience every day, acting as a team leader, solving problems, handling stress, and delivering quality service.
Responsibilities- Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines and achieve established unit objectives.
- Cultivate a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's core values and beliefs.
- Address guest complaints promptly and effectively with self and staff.
- Maintain guest contact as a priority, completing required table visits per Flynn Applebee's standards.
- Maintain departmental inventory levels.
- Ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards through line checks.
- Effectively schedule employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintain safety and security programs.
- Promote restaurant organization, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Perform routine maintenance and report needed repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
- Assist in recruiting and referring potential team members and managers.
- Promote Flynn Applebee's training procedures for new managers.
- Develop staff through orientation, training sessions, employee meetings, and adherence to company policy and training systems.
- Participate in employee development using one-on-one coaching and performance documentation; contribute to written evaluations.
- Assess efficiency, provide regular feedback, and support employees in development.
- Monitor performance and apply disciplinary or corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Control costs in the assigned department.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with periodic food and liquor inventories as requested and ensure completion.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
- Maintain sanitation standards meeting or exceeding Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards.
- Model professional behavior for managers and employees.
- Develop proficiency with store-related technology.
- Be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member role as needed (e.g., cooking, expo, seating guests, bartending).
- Utilize the Management Development Program for ongoing leadership development.
- At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications are a plus
- Work varying shifts, including weekends
- Stand and move for up to ten hours as required
- Lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Read and write to facilitate communication; dexterity for using small tools and equipment
