Construction Specialist – Regional PositionThe Construction Specialist is responsible for identifying leads, proactively prospecting, and selling new and profitable business in an assigned territory. The role includes delivering sales presentations, following up with key decision makers, and closing sales across Rumpke’s full suite of services & solutions. This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager (RSM).
Responsibilities- Identify viable leads, manage prospects, and acquire new, profitable commercial, industrial, and recycling businesses to meet and exceed revenue goals.
- Manage prospects using Rumpke sales tools to schedule and document all daily activities, developing information profiles on prospective customers.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations; follow up with key customers to close sales.
- Meet regularly with the Sales Manager to review weekly prospects, sales activities, progress versus goals, and status of key accounts.
- Prepare complex proposals that identify available services and lines of business, and recommend equipment optimization, leasing options, and right‑sizing opportunities.
- Communicate pricing and service strategies, working closely with regional management to resolve and implement action plans.
- Provide timely monthly tracking and sales reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Occasional work outside regular business hours as needed.
- Attend industry trade shows, symposiums, conferences, and participate in trade groups and associations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Computer literate in Windows and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Consistently present and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
- Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Waste industry experience preferred.
- Previous experience in the contracting business and/or working with contractors preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in a business‑to‑business customer‑facing sales role.
- Minimum two (2) years outside of B2B sales with a proven track record of success.
- Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull a maximum of 10 lbs.
- Frequently work outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions.
- Frequently work in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
- Frequently sit/stand/walk in an office environment.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Ability to travel between offices as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Must successfully complete pre‑employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.
