Planning & Zoning Coordinator
The Town of Sandwich, MA is seeking a full-time, 40‑hour per week, Planning & Zoning Coordinator who will administer the Historic District Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Planning Board regulatory processes, and provide technical and procedural oversight to these boards and committee as needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordination and preparation of meeting agendas.
- Supervision of the posting of meetings, public hearing notices, and legal advertisements with the department staff.
- Review of applications submitted for completeness and conformance to applicable laws and regulations.
- Drafting proposed decisions for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals for their deliberations.
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three years of work experience in planning or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of planning, zoning, historic preservation, and economic development principles and techniques.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
The position reports to the Director of Community Development and has an in‑person work schedule of Monday to Friday with at least two evening meetings per month, on average.
Salary range is $75,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
