Description:
City Springs Theatre Company seeks a skilled and experienced Wardrobe Supervisor to oversee the execution, preparation, maintenance, and performance operation of costumes for CSTC's musical theatre productions.
This hands-on position works closely with the Costume Designer to translate the approved costume design into a complete, organized, and performance-ready wardrobe package. The Wardrobe Supervisor leads the wardrobe team throughout fittings, technical rehearsals, performances, and strike, ensuring costumes are properly fitted, maintained, tracked, and executed to CSTC's professional standards.
Primary Responsibilities:- Oversee the execution and implementation of the approved costume design.
- Coordinate with the Costume Designer regarding construction, alterations, fittings, rentals, and costume preparation.
- Develop and manage costume build and alteration timelines in coordination with the production schedule.
- Facilitate costume fittings and ensure fitting notes and alterations are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Supervise Stitchers and other costume personnel performing construction and alteration work.
- Identify Dressers and Stitchers and establish work schedules at least four weeks before first rehearsal.
- Communicate staffing and scheduling updates to the Director of Production and Production Manager at least seven days in advance whenever changes are known.
- Supervise costume load-in, organization, labeling, dressing-room setup, and load-out.
- Develop and maintain wardrobe run paperwork, including dresser tracks, preset lists, quick-change documentation, laundry schedules, and maintenance tracking.
- Establish and rehearse backstage costume tracks and quick changes.
- Assign and supervise Dressers during technical rehearsals and performances.
- Coordinate closely with Stage Management regarding performer needs, quick changes, presets, understudies, swings, and performance-related costume concerns.
- Oversee costume laundry, steaming, pressing, maintenance, and repairs throughout the production.
- Ensure rented, purchased, constructed, and stock costume pieces are properly cared for and stored.
- Identify damaged or missing costume pieces and coordinate repairs or replacements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe wardrobe and dressing areas.
- Coordinate with the Wig Coordinator and production team to address costume-related health and safety concerns.
- Participate in technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and production meetings as required.
- Assist with costume strike, inventory, packing, and rental returns as required.
- Manager and complete a complete restore of all costume items immediately following a production.
- Demonstrated professional wardrobe or costume supervision experience.
- Strong sewing, alteration, and garment construction skills.
- Thorough knowledge of theatrical wardrobe maintenance, laundry, garment care, and costume repair.
- Experience developing and managing dresser tracks and complex quick changes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities calmly in a fast-paced rehearsal and performance environment.
- Experience supervising wardrobe crews for large-cast musical theatre productions.
