Position: WARDROBE DRESSER
Position

Description:

City Springs Theatre Company seeks professional and detail-oriented Dressers to support the wardrobe operation of CSTC's musical theatre productions.

Dressers are responsible for executing assigned wardrobe tracks during technical rehearsals and performances, including costume presets, performer dressing, quick changes, costume maintenance, and post-performance resets. This position works under the direction of the Wardrobe Supervisor and requires consistency, discretion, speed, and close attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Execute an assigned wardrobe track during technical rehearsals and performances.
  • Prepare and preset costumes, shoes, accessories, and other wardrobe items prior to each performance.
  • Assist performers with dressing and undressing as required.
  • Execute assigned quick changes safely, accurately, and consistently.
  • Maintain the established placement and organization of costumes throughout the performance.
  • Conduct pre-show checks of assigned costumes and immediately report missing or damaged pieces.
  • Assist with steaming, pressing, laundry, and other costume-maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Perform minor hand-sewing and emergency repairs when appropriate.
  • Maintain assigned dressing rooms and quick-change locations in a clean and organized condition.
  • Reset costumes and wardrobe areas following each performance.
  • Assist with costume tracks for understudies, swings, replacements, or other cast changes as assigned.
  • Follow all wardrobe paperwork, presets, change plots, and procedures established by the Wardrobe Supervisor.
  • Maintain professionalism and discretion when working in dressing rooms and in close proximity to performers.
  • Participate in costume load-in, strike, inventory, and load-out as assigned.
  • Immediately communicate costume, safety, timing, or performer-related concerns to the Wardrobe Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Previous professional theatrical wardrobe or dresser experience preferred.
  • Experience with musical theatre and quick changes strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of garment construction and costume care.
  • Basic hand-sewing and emergency repair skills preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently follow established paperwork and tracks.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under time-sensitive performance conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and performer privacy.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move quickly throughout rehearsals and performances.
