Job Summary /ObjectiveSupports civil and electrical infrastructure construction through safe, hands-on field work. This position is intended for individuals with civil construction experience who are interested in developing electrical skills, as well as candidates with entry-level electrical training or experience who are comfortable performing excavation, conduit, grounding, equipment-setting, and site-restoration activities. Works under the direction of qualified supervision and performs only tasks authorized by company policy and applicable licensing requirements.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Operates or assists with construction, excavation, and hauling equipment, including backhoes, skid steers, mini-excavators, gradalls, asphalt rollers, and dump trucks; training is provided as needed.
- Performs or supports excavation, trenching, grading, subgrade preparation, concrete or equipment-pad preparation, backfill, compaction, bollard installation, and site restoration.
- Installs or assists with underground raceway systems, including conduit, sweeps, fittings, spacers, warning tape, pull rope, handholes, vaults, and junction boxes in accordance with project drawings and direction.
- Assists qualified electrical personnel with grounding and bonding, cable handling and pulling, equipment placement, labeling, terminations, testing, commissioning support, and other electrical installation activities within the employee’s training and authorization.
- Reads and follows basic civil and electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, conduit schedules, details, specifications, redlines, and work instructions.
- Identifies field conflicts, differing site conditions, damaged materials, and potential safety or quality concerns and promptly reports them to the supervisor.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, ladders, compactors, measuring devices, and other common construction equipment safely and correctly.
- Loads, stocks, secures, and organizes trucks, trailers, materials, and equipment to maintain daily jobsite readiness.
- Completes daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks and reports deficiencies before use.
- Completes required project and company documentation accurately, including timesheets, truck reports, expense reports, material records, photographs, daily reports, and redline information.
- Follows company safety policies, job hazard analyses, utility-locate requirements, excavation and trench-safety practices, lockout/tagout requirements when applicable, and site-specific procedures.
- Supports the crew in meeting quality, production, schedule, and customer-service expectations across civil, electrical, EV charging, telecom, utility, and related infrastructure projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior civil construction, underground utility, sitework, concrete, equipment-operation, telecom, or electrical experience; relevant trade-school or apprenticeship coursework may substitute for some field experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Electrical trade-school coursework, registered apprenticeship participation, electrical helper experience, or demonstrated interest in pursuing an electrical career path.
- Experience installing underground conduit, handholes, grounding systems, concrete pads, or equipment foundations.
- OSHA 10 certification, or willingness to obtain it.
