The Product Development department is looking for a Product Development Manager to join our team and demonstrate the WCF values. The role focuses on commercial insurance lines such as property, liability, and umbrella. This exempt position reports to the VP, Product Development and is open to internal candidates. The position is based at the WCF headquarters in Sandy, Utah, or at one of our regional offices in Roseville, CA;
Boise, ; or Denver, CO, with a hybrid (office/home) option available.
- Establish product line strategy in collaboration with those responsible for complementary lines of business.
- Implement product enhancements including rating algorithm, policy language, back‑end system, and front‑end system changes.
- Serve as a product line expert, maintain a thorough knowledge of product features and benefits, and provide product expertise to various internal and external audiences.
- Conduct research and analysis on legal issues, competitor products, market needs, and emerging issues to ensure competitiveness and legal compliance.
- Lead product analysts to achieve high morale and technical competency.
- Manage rate, form, rule regulatory filings and maintain good working relationships with regulators.
- Communicate product changes to other departments and assist with product training.
- Design and maintain procedure and product documentation.
- Create and maintain strong, positive working relationships with other departments.
Internal candidates should have been in their current position for at least six months, have acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
Ability to hire at the Senior Product Development Manager level depending on experience.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required; CPCU designation preferred.
- At least five years of Workers Compensation product management, product development, or underwriting experience.
- Deep understanding of commercial property and liability coverage forms, endorsements, manuals, and pricing structures.
- Ability to comprehend, draft, and communicate the intent of contract language as well as interpret inter‑relationships of coverages across contracts.
- Ability to comprehend, create, and communicate intent of insurance rating algorithms and other pricing structures.
- Experience with rate, form, rule regulatory filings.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Works well under deadlines in a changing environment with capability to perform multiple tasks effectively.
