General Description

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is a rapidly growing construction management and engineering company within the Quanta Services family. QISG seeks project civil engineering professionals to support large-scale engineering and construction projects across North America, providing civil site design solutions to our construction partners and clients.
Role Focus
A Project Civil Engineer focuses on civil site, access, and drainage design with an emphasis on design-build delivery for large-scale energy substation and transmission projects. You will collaborate with an in-house, multi-disciplinary team and contribute to design production, construction drawings and specifications, and engineering support during construction. This is an office-based role with primary responsibilities in civil design, permitting support, site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, survey coordination, and civil construction inspections.
The successful candidate will apply sound engineering judgement, use field data, and leverage digital tools to develop economical solutions. You will receive mentoring from senior professionals and will mentor junior engineers. The Project Civil Engineer will develop leadership skills and help keep projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Execute assignments using standard and advanced engineering techniques to carry out civil engineering tasks.
- Develop civil construction specifications, assist in cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.
- Support substation and transmission-line design, including layout, conduit, grounding, site and work pad development, and erosion/sediment control.
- Perform basic stormwater calculations for culverts, ditches and stormwater facilities using modeling software.
- Interface with project leadership and team members across geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission, GIS and construction management functions.
- Oversee subcontractor activities related to drainage and grading designs/operations.
- Develop written reports and communicate information professionally.
- Occasionally visit project sites across North America.
- Participate in sector-focused professional organizations and industry events.
- Work under supervision of the Engineering Director or a Senior Engineer in a professional office setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
- Minimum five (5) years of civil design experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to work with moderate supervision in a small or medium office setting
- Experience in electric utility design (substation and transmission line, 15 kV to 500 kV)
- Micro Station InRoads design experience
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs at times
- Must be able to bend, lift, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces
- Up to 25% travel, depending on seasonal and project needs
