Development Services Manager

Join our team at Sandy City. This position is part of the Planning Division’s Development Services section.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented professional planner to help bring our Cairns City Central vision to life by implementing our award‑winning Pace of Progress General Plan through Land Development Code updates.

• Leadership
  :
  Supervise the Development Services section of the Planning Division.
• Planning Activities
  :
  Engage in a range of professional planning tasks, including:
• Current planning and land use
• Development review for mixed‑use, commercial, industrial, and multi‑family projects
• Site planning, subdivisions, plat amendments, and conditional uses
• Architectural review and other planning‑related impacts
• Preparation of staff reports and presentations to public officials, boards, commissions, and citizen committees

• Knowledge/Skills
  :
  Working understanding of basic legal principles of land development and zoning in Utah (LUDMA); knowledge of form‑based codes and urban design; attention to detail; experience with digital review software; compliance with time‑sensitive deadlines; clear and timely communication with a variety of stakeholders; strong prioritization and negotiation skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Education
  :
  Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field.
• Experience
  :
  Minimum of five years of progressively responsible planning experience in local government or a comparable organization.
• Certifications
  : AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) Certification preferred;
  Class C (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred.
• Probationary Period
  :
  One‑year probationary period required.

  : $80,412.80 – $, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
