Node.js Developer

The right Node.js Developer sees a flaky test not as noise but as a clue, and Blue Cross Blue Shield in Sandy, UT has clues worth chasing. We're hiring a junior Node.js Developer to join Blue Cross Blue Shield on a freelance basis, with $62,000 - $88,000 on offer and genuine room to advance.

• Keep Nginx schemas backward-compatible so Blue Cross Blue Shield never forces a breaking upgrade
• Turn vague technology tickets into crisp, testable Vue.js acceptance criteria
• Defend Blue Cross Blue Shield uptime through the 2 a.m. Sandy pages nobody volunteers for
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and technology roadmap discussions
• Document the Python system so the next junior engineer onboards in days, not weeks
• Reverse-engineer the gloriously-unglamorous Laravel format Blue Cross Blue Shield inherited and never documented

• Clear thinking under the kind of pressure Sandy, UT deadlines bring
• The kind of curiosity that reads the docs before asking
• The composure to deliver bad news early and clearly
• An eye for the proudly-imperfect detail that separates fine from finished

Our feedback-driven approach to technology has made Blue Cross Blue Shield a go-to choice for companies throughout UT. At Blue Cross Blue Shield feedback has a short half-life, delivered close to the moment it can still help.

What we put on the table: $62,000 - $88,000, coaching for your Vue.js, benefits worth having, and freedom to grow at your own pace.
