Job Summary
Join BD (Tissuemed Ltd) as an Equipment Specialist (Night Shift). The role reports to the Department Shift Coach and involves routine setup, daily maintenance, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. The specialist controls machine settings, inspects in-process parts to ensure consistent quality, removes defective product, and supports root‑cause analysis activities. They also identify and elevate any issues related to machine performance and product quality.

- Operate multiple processes on or around high‑speed automated or semi‑automated manufacturing equipment.
- Participate in equipment changeovers or set‑ups.
- Monitor assigned processes to ensure high‑quality production.
- Respond to machine faults and restore to normal operation.
- Participate in autonomous maintenance to maintain assigned equipment/area.
- Drive to meet or exceed all expected line/zone performance.
- Remove defective product from the automated or semi‑automated processes.
- Maintain accurate records and documents as required.
- Continuously improve through the Kaizen Action Sheet (KAS) program.
- Produce high‑quality products manufactured per task documents.
- Maintain a clean area by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down equipment.
- Communicate problems/changes promptly to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Participate in root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues as needed.
- Participate in tier 1 shift’s startup meetings, 5S, and Kaizen events.
- Support a safe working environment by submitting employee safety observations (ESO).
- Rotate into different tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Train other associates as needed.
- Identify production issues and communicate clearly to support functions.
- Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety & quality regulations, policies, procedures, including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations, and practice consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
- High School Diploma/GED or 1 year consecutive work experience.
- 2 years on‑job experience.
- Read & write in written English and communicate in verbal English.
- Effectively work in a team setting and communicate across the department.
- Understand semi‑routine assignments and recognize deviations from specification.
- Operate independently within approved process‑related documentation.
- Analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Basic proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment.
- This position is in a clean room or laboratory manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Stand or occasionally sit for extended periods. Bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, crouching, pushing/pulling, repetitive grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.
- Lift 20 pounds, occasionally pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs and carry up to 5 lbs. Exposure to loud moving mechanical equipment, potential temperature fluctuations, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, cleaning compounds and solvents.
- Must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing/distribution environment. Must wear required PPE such as safety glasses, face mask or shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair/beard net and smock.
