Electrical Estimator

Summary of

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Essentially, the role of the Estimator is to count devices, fixtures, roll branch circuits, underground raceways and duct banks, etc. using a fully computerized on-screen takeoff system that integrates directly with our estimating software. The Estimator works directly under a Lead Estimator and/or the Department Manager. You will assist in the bidding of larger projects directly under a Lead Estimator.
• Prepare and assemble bids up to $500k typically with electrical and low voltage scopes.
• Jobwalks with customers to help review the scope of work and customer needs.
• Develop accurate cost estimates and identify risk items, questions and deficiencies from the contract documents and job walk assessments.
• Work with Department Supervisor to assess viability of projects for the company.
• Read and interpret plans and other documents.
• Conduct Bid Review presentations with management prior to submission.

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone that has career ambition, is a strong team player and has the desire to learn, teach and to make a difference!
• Prior experience bidding all types of electrical work is required.
• Knowledge of NEC. Must have a good understanding of NECA rates and how the labor rates are established in Accubid.
• Completed Apprenticeship training program and/or Journeyman license. Journeyman level knowledge of means/methods of installation required.
• High level of proficiency in Accubid / Livecount is desired, software based estimating experience is a plus!
• Advanced level knowledge and use of Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word is required.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong math and analytical skills, with sharp attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to be an effective leader and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to successfully complete drug screen
