Join to apply for the Adjunct Faculty, Political Science role at Seminole State College of Florida

THIS IS A POOL POSITION. Adjunct positions are temporary, part-time, and filled based on enrollment. While a posting may exist on our website, there may or may not be a need at this time; however, submitted applications remain active for one academic year and are available for the Department Dean to review on an ongoing basis. The Dean or their designee will contact any applicants selected for interview.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses, including developing and posting syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments, grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Engage in professional development and effectively utilize the College’s Online Learning Management System (CANVAS).
  • Maintain open communication with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Contribute to curriculum improvement efforts aimed at enhancing student success.
  • Provide collaboration with other faculty to support curricula and student mastery of course and program competencies.
Additional duties (as applicable)
  • Develop or modify assignments, assessments and other course materials to support and evaluate student understanding of course learning outcomes established in the course syllabus and per department guidelines.
  • Record and post course syllabi, class/grade rosters, and submit final student grades by established deadlines.
  • Remain current with how to use the College’s LMS (CANVAS) as required by departmental guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to communications from students, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Meet with students individually to review coursework as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Political Science
  • Or Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Political Science (may include graduate courses with political science content representing regional perspectives such as African, Asian, or Hispanic Studies)

Note: A Master’s degree in International Relations may be used to satisfy the academic program requirement for teaching CPO or INR prefix courses only.

Compensation, Benefits & Schedule

Adjunct faculty are paid according to Seminole State College’s Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule
, based on the instructor’s highest degree earned. This posting is for a College Credit Course

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees and for rehired employees with a break in service of one year or more, as determined by the Office of Human Resources.
